Hillcrest estate
A main residence and a separate stables apartment on a large rural-residential holding, planned around the lake views and the long approach past the entrance pond.
The site. A big block with a long frontage and the water on one side — the question was where to put the house so that every principal room faced the lake without the stables and the pool taking the best of it.
The design. The main house carries the formal dining, a movie room and the pool terrace on the water side; the stables apartment sits back on the approach so the two buildings read as a group from the drive and never overlook each other.
